Hall of Mirrors

What a year it’s been for reflection.

This photo (which now could be very useful in pretending I have a room full of friends here with me while in lockdown) was taken in 2015 by my pal Chris White at the Ottawa Grassroots Festival during a workshop I was leading on fingerstyle guitar technique.

It was lovely to join the Ottawa Grassroots Festival community again recently to perform at their online event.

The best Zoom room is the one that’s filled with music.

If your perception seems a bit distorted in these current times, please know you’re not alone.

I hope you’re finding some grounding moments, as I have, in art and in music. My goal is to keep bringing those things to you.

I miss the singalongs and the shaky new songs and the songwriters-in-the-rounds. I miss being glad to see people arriving in crowds.

I’ve been making music in the distance. I’ve been making art alone, housebound, locked down. And in the coming months I’ll be sharing it with you. And hoping we can be together like this again soon.
