Songs from the Heart awards

The results of the Folk Music Ontario Songs from the Heart songwriting competition were announced yesterday and two of my songs received awards!
Devil’s Rolling Pin was the winner in the “Humourous” category

and Not So Silent was the winner in the “Political” category

I’m so grateful for this recognition and want to give special thanks to the Toronto Arts Council for helping to support the writing of these songs.
Looking forward to performing them live at the Songs from the Heart showcase at the 2015 Folk Music Ontario conference in October.

Union Summer

I’ve been rolling in and out of Toronto’s Union Station quite a lot in the past few years. In that time, the station has been under construction, gradually reshaping the busy central transportation hub.
A lot has changed at Union Station. This summer, there’s a vibrant market out front with an intriguing inventory of tasty treats.
On Monday, August 3 from noon – 1:00pm I’ll be playing a free outdoor show out on the plaza in front of Union Station to celebrate the revitalization, the market, the summer. The Union Summer series is presented by Osmington and Folk Music Ontario. Come out and have some fun in the city centre!
I’m thinking of starting my own “Train Station Set” bingo card – I’ll finally be able to add Toronto to the list that currently includes Vancouver, Jasper, Winnipeg, Montreal, and Halifax.
