Toasty in Toronto

On the bus back home from the airport last week, I was sad to leave behind all the great people I got to spend time with in Alberta on this past tour, and I couldn’t help but remark on just how absolutely GREY everything looked in Toronto. Like February had drawn the colour out of everything.

I missed the fresh air and peace and quiet of a national park in winter. I missed the kind folk club and house concert audiences, the homemade chili and fresh baked bread, the feeling of purposeful forward movement. The things that make touring feel like it’s not work at all.
But there is still lots of work to be done. I’m back in the studio for the next few weeks, finishing up the recording sessions for this next album. I can’t wait to share this music with you.
If you’re in Toronto, come beat the February blahs on Thursday night at The Dakota – I’ll be opening for Edmonton’s Andrea Nixon. Come sway by the twinkle lights or lounge in the barrel bar stools. It will be warm and bright.

Alberta bound

2017 is rushing in and I will meet it on the railway tracks as I clickety-clack across the country. I’ll be chugging along on VIA Rail‘s The Canadian from Toronto to Edmonton next week, playing music all the way, with the On Board Entertainment Program.
Then I’ll set out on my first ever WINTER tour of Alberta! Looking forward to folk club performances in Calgary and Edmonton, as well as house concerts in Spruce Grove and Blackfoot, and a long-awaited night at the Twin Butte General Store.

I’ve got a full week in the studio before I ride the rails – working hard to get new music to you. See you where the prairies and the mountains meet.
