Off-road gigging

The Folk Music Ontario conference was a blast – so many old friends to catch up with and many more new ones to meet face to face. I’m still catching up on lost sleep. Before I disappeared into the conference, I wrote an article for Roots Music Canada about my experience touring in northern Ontario in September. Specifically, I talk about alternate performance spaces and house concerts. I hope it can inspire people to be creative about bringing music into smaller communities and excited about experiencing music in its closest, rawest form. Have a read.
More gigs in Ontario coming up in November – Windsor, Guelph, Ottawa, Perth, Morrisburg…and my first trip to the NERFA conference in Kerhonkson, NY!

Already October

Northern Ontario was full of surprises. Driving home down the TransCanada highway, my heart was heavy and my eyes were filled with Lake Superior. Read more about my tour here.
In one week, I’ll be deep into the Folk Music Ontario conference in Mississauga. If you’re trying to find me in the fray, I’m playing two private showcases:
ROOM 202 – Bohemian Roots showcase room:
Friday, October 18 – 1:30am
Saturday, October 19 – 11:30pm
(please note that you must have a delegate badge to attend these showcases).
I will also be moderating the “Mon-EH! Music Funding in Canada” panel on Saturday morning at 10:30am. Featured panelists include Aengus Finnan from the Ontario Arts Council and Brent Bain from FACTOR.
But before all that, I’ll be sneaking in a couple of gigs: Tuesday, October 15 with Christa Couture in Toronto, and Wednesday, October 16 with Ian Foster in Peterborough.
