Leaves turning, wheels turning

The fall colours are starting to sweep through eastern Ontario. I’m in my hometown of Ottawa, getting ready for the big CD release show tomorrow at Raw Sugar. Here’s Arthur McGregor, proprietor of the greatest music store on earth, the Ottawa Folklore Centre, showing off the poster for the show.

Thanks to Canada’s longest-running folk music radio program, Canadian Spaces, for having me on the show last Saturday morning. I spent many Saturday mornings tuning in to Canadian Spaces when I lived in Ottawa. On Thursday morning, I’ll be on CKCU’s Special Blend around 9:00AM and on Friday afternoon, tune in to Juice FM in Kemptville to hear me and Kristine St. Pierre talk about our show at The Branch.

Festival season isn’t over yet! I’m looking forward to playing at the Deep Roots Music Festival in Wolfville, Nova Scotia at the end of the month, along with more shows in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Pass the breath mints

I hear that garlic has all kinds of medicinal properties – it’s an excellent source of manganese and vitamin B6, a very good source of vitamin C, and a good source of selenium. I’ll be surrounded by garlic on Sunday when I play the Stratford Garlic Festival at 11:45am. I’m hoping its anti-viral benefits will help me kick this summer cold.
North Ontario was beautiful and heartwarming and genuine, like the people who live there. I loved exploring St. Joseph Island after a packed house at their town hall the night before. Here’s a new painting of the view from the rest stop just before the St. Joseph Island Bridge.

The fall tour is in full swing now and I’ll be around Ontario and the east coast in the next few weeks. Would you like to see me play in your town? Drop me a line and let’s set up a concert!
