The March wind was a trickster

The good folks at the New Moon Folk Club in Edmonton posted this live video from the concert I played there last month:

Devil’s Rolling Pin is also one of two songs from my solo guitar/voice album Apartments for Lovers that are getting rearranged and re-recorded for this new album that will be coming out in the spring. Can’t wait for you to hear the new versions!
In tour news, I’ll be flying down to Florida for the first time later this month for a week of shows. And this weekend, I’ll be driving down the 401 to play at the Old Church Theatre in Trenton, Ontario.
You gotta move your feet or the demon’s gonna do you in.

Toasty in Toronto

On the bus back home from the airport last week, I was sad to leave behind all the great people I got to spend time with in Alberta on this past tour, and I couldn’t help but remark on just how absolutely GREY everything looked in Toronto. Like February had drawn the colour out of everything.

I missed the fresh air and peace and quiet of a national park in winter. I missed the kind folk club and house concert audiences, the homemade chili and fresh baked bread, the feeling of purposeful forward movement. The things that make touring feel like it’s not work at all.
But there is still lots of work to be done. I’m back in the studio for the next few weeks, finishing up the recording sessions for this next album. I can’t wait to share this music with you.
If you’re in Toronto, come beat the February blahs on Thursday night at The Dakota – I’ll be opening for Edmonton’s Andrea Nixon. Come sway by the twinkle lights or lounge in the barrel bar stools. It will be warm and bright.
