Hope Lives

Things have changed a lot.

I returned home early from my US tour in March. My tour dates until the end of April are all cancelled. May and June are still up in the air. We are all adjusting to these unsettling times amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

I have been in self-isolation since I returned from my tour, as per the instructions from Public Health regarding travel outside of Canada. I am home, I am safe, and I am healthy. And for that I am immensely grateful.

I was supposed to be in the studio this week and had some important sessions scheduled for my new album. I’m not sure when they will happen. I’m not sure what this means for the timing of my release, or my work as a touring artist. Right now, all we can do is wait.

Today – Friday, March 20 – Bandcamp is giving 100% of sales on their website to artists, instead of taking their usual cut. You can check out my most recent album on Bandcamp.

Since it might be longer than I thought before I can share all this new music with you, here’s a sneak peek. From my living room, in self-isolation, Hope Lives:

In and out

Somewhere between all the songwriting and studio sessions, I found myself in the sunshine state for a week, culminating in a performance at the South Florida Folk Festival. It’s a bit delicious to walk barefoot through sand and surf in early February.

Although I could never give up the immeasurable beauty of the moon reflecting off freshly-fallen snow all night long. That glow has kept me company as I’ve laid awake, thinking about upcoming tours and recording logistics and funding and marketing plans and all the waking dreams of creating new art. I’ve got more new songs to share and I’ll be bringing them on the road in March to New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Hope to see you along the way.
