On the road, landscapes rush by as washes of colour, or quick snapshots that I grab and then run from just as quickly. It’s been nice to stay still for a bit. I can take in more of the details.
I’m getting ready for my next recording project and I love the chance to just go slow with these songs that I’ve been shuttling around from town to town. I’m getting to know them better. I can really focus on a melody. I can remember why I chose those words.
I’ve been painting, too – just learned how to use the fan brush, how to tap the corner, how to bounce it back and forth.
I’m rediscovering the utensils in my kitchen, the colours at the farmers’ market, the comfort of a bowl of oatmeal.
Of course, there’s still a lot of booking going on, tours coming together in the USA and Canada in fall, winter, spring, summer. Wherever you’d like me to be. If you’d like to help present a show, send me a note! In the meantime, I’ll try to make something new and pretty for you to listen to.
